Why childcare is important?

High-quality child care keeps children safe and healthy. In addition, it helps children develop skills they will need for success in school and in their lives outside of school: Social, emotional and communication skills. Pre-literacy and basic mathematical skills and concepts.

Why Is Early Childhood Education Important?

The time between birth and age 3 is a period of rapid brain development when billions of connections between individual neurons are established. Mechanisms and interventions to support that development must be available beginning at birth.

Early childhood experiences from birth to age 8 affect the development of the brain’s architecture, which provides the foundation for all future learning, behavior and health. A strong foundation helps children develop the skills they need to become well-functioning adults

A child’s early years can have lifelong physical, social, and emotional impacts. While positive experiences and environments can set up a young child on a stronger life-long path, traumatic experiences or environments during those formative years can have long-lasting, detrimental impact.

The experiences children have early in life play a crucial role in the development of the brain. Exposure to positive factors, especially stable and responsive relationships with parents and other adults, and safe and supportive environments promote positive development.

    Willows Expansion Project:

The need for childcare in our area continues to grow. To address this concern, Willows is adding a two story 30’ x 45’ addition to the current building. This addition is ADA accessible on both levels like the current building.

The addition will include two classrooms.  A 4-year-old room for 20 children and a 2-year-old room for 12 children.  Our licensing capacity is currently 48 children, and it will increase to 80 children.  With this added capacity we will be able to offer more childcare slots in our area, thereby alleviating some of the child care shortages currently being experienced and providing community families with safe full-time care while they work.

Part of the services Willows provides is daily breakfast, lunch, and snacks. The addition will include an expanded kitchen to meet this need. USDA’s child nutrition programs help ensure that children receive nutritious meals and snacks that promote their health and educational readiness. The child nutrition programs are administered by USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS). Participation in USDA’s child nutrition programs has been found to reduce food insecurity.
